Letter from the Director

This summer, we are celebrating everything that is great about living in Roswell! In January, our staff began the process of scheduling programs, hiring staff, and planning diverse, enriching activities to offer during our summer season. With 96 unique summer camps, hundreds of activities, and an exciting lineup of special events, it will be nearly impossible to hear the dreaded, "there's nothing to do" from the kids once school lets out.

For those already anticipating some warm summer weather, our swim lessons kick off on May 28, 2019, so be sure to reserve your spot early before classes fill up. Our aquatic team is excited to add the term "Wibit" to our special events vocabulary, so keep an eye out for future announcements about our inflatable obstacle course adventures at Roswell Area Park this summer!

In addition to all the exciting programs, activities, and special events we have to offer the community this summer, the City of Roswell will be conducting a citywide community engagement and outreach program for our city's Strategic Plan. This plan serves to identify the community's priorities for the next few years, and I encourage everyone to participate in the process by letting your City leaders hear your ideas as we set goals for our community.

We look forward to seeing you this summer!

Jeff Leatherman,
Director of Recreation, Parks, Historic & Cultural Affairs Department

Park Master Plans

One of the reasons for our great success is that we master plan our parks. We create these plans to fulfill our community's recreation and parks needs now and in the future.

A Nationally Recognized Program!

Those of us who live in Roswell know how exceptional our Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs Department is. So it came as no surprise to us when the department was nationally recognized with the Gold Medal for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration. Each day, the City of Roswell's Recreation, Parks, Historic, and Cultural Affairs Department works to have a positive impact on the lives of all those who live, work, and play in Roswell. We put our hearts and souls into delivering the best recreational, health and wellness, artistic, and cultural experiences for everyone—regardless of age or ability.

We proudly maintain more than 900 acres of parkland, as well as our Southern Trilogy Historic House Museums (Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall and Smith Plantation). And we host multiple special events for our community each year.

Recreation Commission

The Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic, and Cultural Affairs Department continues to strive to meet the leisure needs of the citizens of Roswell by providing quality comprehensive recreational opportunities and quality comprehensive parks and facilities.
